Recommended Resources

This page lists the resources I personally used to study for the AP test.
In my opinion, one important thing to note is that you shouldn’t feel pressured to spend unnecessary amounts of money. Nearly all the resources I used were free except for one or two, and even then there were ways to obtain them for free (such as getting a book from a local library).

Content

Resources to help you catch up and remember content
  • Heimler (free)
    • Check out his AP World review videos, which I really like because he gets the important points across while not droning on for too long
    • His videos on the FRQs are also pretty good, so if you need help with those check them out
    • I’ve also heard that he has numerous paid courses but I only used his free content. However, some of my friends who have bought his paid content said it was pretty useful. It may be something to look into but note that it’s not a huge deal if you don’t buy it.
    •
  • CollegeBoard’s Course and Exam Description (free)
    • This is a resource that not many people know about but it is a very valuable one
    • CollegeBoard provides a CED (Course and Exam Description) for every AP course, including AP World, and in this CED, they layout the structure of the course in its entirety
    • Although it seems like a long PDF, try spending some time looking through it: it has a lot of valuable information
    •
  • AMSCO (paid)
    • AMSCO is a book that goes over all of the units in AP World
    • I like it much better than the textbook my school used because it’s organized based on the way CollegeBoard organizes the class and explains stuff nicely while not trying to sound fancy
    • If the price tag makes you wary, try looking for it at a local library

Practice

Resources to help you practice your skills and see where you are falling short
  • AP Classroom (free)
    • Highly recommend: has practice tests that were made by CollegeBoard; this is very valuable as you are practicing from material made by the very people who make the AP tests!
    • There is one caveat though: your teacher must assign you these practice tests or else you won’t be able to access them. They are really helpful though so it may not hurt to ask your teacher about it if they haven’t already unlocked them.
